Workshop Registration: The Season of the Crow

Registration for Intersections in Fairy Tales and Myth is now OPEN. The course will begin in September and run through the first week of December.

Currently, the proposed schedule is Section I: Mondays from 9-11:30 am (Pacific Time) FULL; Section II: Tuesday from 4:30-7 pm (Pacific Time); and Section III: Wednesdays from 10-12:30 am (PST). Schedule subject to change based on participant availability. For conversion check

Note: All sections are limited to six participants plus the workshop facilitator. Inquire for additional times & days.

THE SEASON OF THE CROW workshop is twelve weeks long and includes five modules. Participants are encouraged to write a poem, short story, or essay (3K maximum word count) for each module. Alternating weeks are dedicated to study, discussion, and writing prompts. At the end of the course, writers will present one revision (5K maximum word count). The price to join THE SEASON OF THE CROW is $600 with a 10% discount for returning participants.

Materials for THE SEASON OF THE CROW include:

  • MODULE 1: Corvidae Tales & Tricksters and Psychopomps (Fairy tales, fables, and myths about ravens and crows.)
  • MODULE 2: Fairy Fruit & Temptation and Taboos (“The Goblin Market,” The Garden of Earthly Delights: A Study in Symbolism, cultural myths associated with fruits)
  • MODULE 3: Culinary Horror & Cultural Cannibalism (Select fairy tales and myths on the theme of cannibalism, cultural depictions of anthropophage, cryptids)
  • MODULE 4: Fairy Queens & Human Trafficking (Selections from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Le Morte d’Arthur, “Tam Lin,” and “Thomas the Rhymer”)
  • MODULE 5: The Color Green & Comic Culture (Green Man folklore, “The Green Children of Woolpit,” Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, superheroes)

Returning students receive a 10% discount. Space is limited. Payment plans available.

This series of interactive and generative workshops offers and opportunity to explore fairy tales and other traditional tales, paired with strange and marvelous concepts. You’ll have an opportunity to workshop five new stories or poems, and a portfolio piece you’ve revised based on the workshop discussions. This is a supportive and generative workshop that combines reading, discussion, writing, and feedback.
