Publication News: “Unfettered” by Leslie Wibberley

I tend to write stories about women finding empowerment/discovering their strength, usually with a speculative element. This story is no exception. “Unfettered” first took life in your fairy tales, folk tales and world myths/ science workshop in the unit: The Firebird and Bioluminescence.

After I wrote this story in your class, I polished it and submitted it to two different publications, which ultimately rejected it. I then workshopped this story in Richard Thomas‘s Advanced Creative Writing Workshop and submitted several more times. After more changes, it finally found a home in Not all Monsters.
